It's an honor to be a SAHM!
As my mother (my mentor) and I closed our retail business of 25+ years in 2009, Chez Rose Marie Lingerie, in Montreal my hometown, after leaving my friends, family, store, whole life behind and moving to the States to follow my American husband and my lifelong dream of moving to the States. I decided to move beyond my comfort zone and pursue my dream of running my own business and starting a family along with it.
We moved to the Midwest to be closer to his family, we designed our own house as first-time home owners, I started my home organizing business and gave birth to my only son a few years later (mini me in a different font). We then decided to relocate to New York in 2016 in order to live in a big city, our own city, and to put our son in school while running my business and my husband found work in his field.
Buying a condo to design and call our own was a dream come true. Between school drop-offs and pick-ups, I organize our household and tweak my cleaning routine a little bit every day to make it more effective. Once our home, our sanctuary, is clean, organized, and pantries and fridge are stocked with nutritious foods, I get to work on my business—before school pickup madness and before play dates or orthodontist visits begin.
No matter how hard it is being an expat, and no matter how much I miss my mom (my best friend), my family and friends in Montreal, this is definitely my destiny and calling. God has given me a fierce love for my little family and completely transformed my mind to put my family first and my business second. After almost 20 years of marriage, I still continue to fall in love with my beau every day as he whisks me away on weekly coffee dates at our favorite local cafe, and I love our life in the big apple.
If you feel lost in stay-at-home motherhood or are a mompreneur. Dig deep with me. Remember we are giving our family a great gift—time. As my dreams keep growing and evolving, I realize how much I love writing blog posts. Check out my other posts if you liked this one, especially the one about the lost art of homemaking. Have a great Easter and God bless!
